Backdrop 1.28.0 introduced the ability to upload SVG images to image fields. The out-of-box Standard installation now enables SVG image uploads by default when creating "Post" or "Card" content. The default set of allowed extensions is now png, gif, jpg, jpeg, webp, and svg.
If your site had previously used the contributed module SVG Image, this module can now be removed, as core effectively provides the same functionality.
